Athletics prepare for Red Sox series
The Houston Astros (71-62, 2nd AL West) took care of home field, sweeping the Oakland Athletics (57-76, 5th AL West) by a combined score of 13 -4. Last night, the A’s took an early 3-1 lead into the 8th inning when both George Springer and Jose Altuve slammed triples to close the game out for the Astros 4-3 .
The A’s Ross Detwiler went seven innings giving up only three hits and one run in that time.
“Ross was dominant out there today,” Oakland reliever Liam Hendriks said. “He did a really good job of keeping them off balance, and he did a really good job of spotting up his fastball. It’s a shame that we weren’t able to pull this one off for him.”
The A’s have little time to contemplate their road trip as they begin a three game home stand tomorrow evening against the Boston Red Sox. Taking the mound for the A’s will be Andrew Trigg (1-1. 4.39 ERA) while the Sox will send out LHP David Price (13-8, 3.97 ERA) to start the game.
