Stros sweep A’s

Athletics prepare for Red Sox series

The Houston Astros (71-62, 2nd AL West) took care of home field, sweeping the Oakland Athletics (57-76, 5th AL West) by a combined score of 13 -4.  Last night, the A’s took an early 3-1 lead into the 8th inning when both George Springer and Jose Altuve slammed triples to close the game out for the Astros 4-3 .

The A’s Ross Detwiler went seven innings giving up only three hits and one run in that time.

Athletics 2“Ross was dominant out there today,” Oakland reliever Liam Hendriks said. “He did a really good job of keeping them off balance, and he did a really good job of spotting up his fastball. It’s a shame that we weren’t able to pull this one off for him.”

The A’s have little time to contemplate their road trip as they begin a three game home stand tomorrow evening against the Boston Red Sox. Taking the mound for the A’s will be Andrew Trigg (1-1. 4.39 ERA) while the Sox will send out LHP David Price (13-8, 3.97 ERA) to start the game.

Tickets for the series as well as the Angels series following are still available.  Be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Oakland A’s!

Kazmir still on fire

RHP Scott Kazmir had another fantastic outing yesterday delivering 111 pitches, zero walks and eight strikeouts to kick off a home stand against the Boston Red Sox. The team is currently on a three game winning streak that began in Game Two of the series with the Rangers on Tuesday.

“I feel like I’m able to throw any one of my pitches at any given time in any count,” Kazmir said. “I have a lot of confidence. I felt good today. Probably one of the best I felt this year.”

Game two of the four game stand begins tonight at 9:05 tonight.  Great seats and cheap tickets are still available!
